What's Coliving ?
Student shared accommodation
In the private rental sector, the roommates sign either a single lease including a solidarity clause in the event of non-payment, or an independent lease each. In the latter case, the duration of the contract may vary for each occupant.
In the case of social housing, the lessor signs a contract with each roommate, who must establish their main residence there. Each occupant must therefore independently meet the criteria for allocation of social housing, in particular in terms of resource ceilings.
How a student shared accommodation works: what the lease says
Each roommate has a private room of at least 9m² in surface area and 20m3 in volume. These areas are part of the criteria for decent housing, a condition for claiming housing assistance.
The lease also specifies the share of rent, rental charges and rental repairs owed by each roommate. To prevent non-payment, the owner may ask for a deposit from a roommate or each member of the student shared accommodation. In the case of a single lease, the solidarity clause between the roommates also concerns the guarantors! At Colocations Grand Paris you are not responsible for other people rooms.
Home insurance can be taken out individually or collectively by all tenants.

Civil liability insurance ?
Civil liability insurance
Civil liability insurance is most often included in multi-risk home insurance. So a good student insurance is one that takes into account the specificities of your travels abroad as part of your studies. It covers you for damages that you cause to others in your private life and in your student life.
You should note that civil liability insurance covers you against damages caused to third parties, but not necessarily to yourself, so if you have to travel, consider taking out suitable health insurance. You may also be entitled to special protections.
Finally, some insurers offer legal protections in the event of a dispute with your landlord, for example.
Others offer to offer you payment facilities to compensate for your uncertain income. Finally, others offer you advantageous group contracts for your various insurances. So, whatever your requirements, and the particularity of your situation, approach an insurer to find together the formula that would suit you.
